Personal Information:Omwayi Mathews (AH 172) Case History:Omwayi is 74 years old and lives in Kenya with his two grandchildren. He is a widower and does not have any children or any other family to care for him. Omwayi previously earned a living as a farmer. He now does limited farming but plans sugar cane and “rungus” to sell and plants maize, millet and beans for consumption. With no pension system in Kenya, day to day life is a constant struggle. Omwayi’s health is fair. He suffers from arthritis and has back pain and he must use a cane to walk. His eye sight is poor and he doesn’t hear well. Although Omwayi’s health is fair he looks good and is very enthusiastic. Omwayi is a very funny and grateful man. He enjoys meeting friends at church and attending bible studies. During the day he cares for his three sheep and also carves walking sticks. In his youth he used to love playing football and dancing with girls. Sponsorship will ensure that Omwayi Mathews receives food, clothing and medical attention when necessary. Most importantly, it will give him the knowledge that someone voluntarily cares about his situation. Caring Organization:Joot Social Services, Ahero, Kenya
